Chasen Gaver, a performance poet, worked as a paralegal for the Federal Trade Commission, and was a book reviewer for The Washington Blade newspaper. He was a member of the DC arts collective Black Artists/White Artists, and performed for Young Audiences, a children’s arts outreach program.
He is the author of an illustrated novel, The Party’s Over (1985), and starred in the film Beat: The Performance Poetry of Chasen Gaver (1984). He also released two audiocassettes of his performances, Daddy! and Personality Cult. Gaver died of AIDS complications at age 36.
